We were a bit more organised for the Saturday and got to the festival by about 1pm, just in time to see Washed Out who were on the top of my list of bands to see, mainly because of their style of music and the setting – dreamy, summery music with a palm tree backdrop in the beautiful Palm Desert, just perfection (short Instagram video here). So glad we saw them, definite highlight!
Saturday was significantly hotter than Friday, so we took a lot more beverage breaks, luckily the beer garden to the left of the Coachella Stage had perfect views of the stage, so we kicked back in there for a bit and watched Foster The People and Queens of the Stone Age. Once they were done we took a walk over to the Outdoor Theatre to catch Pharrell. On Weekend One he had some major voice issues because of a dust storm, but on Weekend Two he was THE BOMB. So much energy and loved seeing him start with Lose Yourself To Dance. He brought so many guests on stage – Usher, Nelly (lolll), Busta Rhymes and Jay Z. During his finale of “Happy”, we went back over to the Coachella Stage to get a good spot for Muse. I’ve seen Muse a few times and they are always consistently good, just over the top rock n roll, so it was cool to see them at Coachella. It was also Kate Hudson’s birthday, so Matt Bellamy made the crowd sing to her which was pretty funny.
So yeah, Day 2 was awesome and I’m glad we saw the full sets of way more bands than the day before.
