Four Days in Melbourne

Somehow over the years, a big chunk of my close friends have filtered off to Melbourne to live. So whenever a cheap deal rolls around, we nab a weekend flight and go visit. Last weekend we visited again for 4 days…

Having been to Melbourne about 5 or 6 times already (see my last trip here), we’re pretty familiar with the city and this time decided to do things a little differently. Instead of staying on a friends blow up mattress like we normally do, we rented an Airbnb in a super hip area just 1km from the CBD called Fitzroy.

The studio apartment was just off Gertrude Street, which had an abundance of amazing shops, cafes, bars and restaurants right on our door step, so we definitely made the most of this. Here are a few highlights from the 4 days…

On the day before we left, we spontaneously decided to do a road trip to the Great Ocean Road. The last time I was in Melbourne, we tried to do this drive, but the roads were closed because of bush fires. So we got up early, rented a car and drove up for the day. It worked out so well – it was a perfect (albeit chilly) sunny day with incredible blue skies and because it was a Monday, there was barely any traffic on the road, so we got there pretty quickly. We spent around 3 hours at the Twelve Apostles checking out all the coastal viewing points before driving back to Melbourne in time for dinner. What an insanely gorgeous part of the world it is, so glad we finally made it there!

Till next time, Melbourne!
